1 day last week, I decided to stay home and catch up on a small amount of studying. It’s not often that I take a day and not go to the office and only pander round the house.

Sometimes it’s necessary to do anything, and I really don’t do it frequently enough. She’d be gone the entire day, and so I would have the whole day to myself. I was looking ahead. Who wouldn’t?I really was mistaken about this idea. I’d like to have a day by myself is a superb idea, but it’s still back in Kansas. The wife left the building, I’d settled down with a stack of books that I had to undergo and, clearly, a hot cup of java into the left of me. I was looking forward to a superb moment. Then I got a telephone call. I was not prepared for the telephone call, so I replied, expecting to speak to someone. It was a reminder that my automobile warranty had died, and if I press , I would be transferred to someone who may renew it. They also stated this is the last chance I have to renew my guarantee.I wish to receive the definition of this word”last.” If that is the last opportunity I have, why have I received hundreds of these phone calls?A few minutes later, another phone call came.I wrestle with the concept of, is it okay to lie to somebody who is lying ?The woman on the phone congratulated me on winning two round-trip tickets to anywhere I needed to go. All I needed to do was come to their headquarters and they’d put us up for 3 days and 2 nights, and also the food was included.I really don’t understand how thoughts dancing into my head, but this one did.I responded to the woman,”I am sorry, but my faith does not permit me to fly on airplanes.”The crickets on the opposite end did a tiny concert and she then got back to me and told me I could give those tickets to anyone I wanted to. All I had to do would be to return to their own headquarters, and what will be OK.”My faith,” I explained,”not only doesn’t allow me to fly airplanes but doesn’t allow me to provide airplane tickets to anyone. I appreciate your offer, but I cannot do it.”Sometimes faith can be convenient. I chuckled to myself the remainder of the day. When I’m through chuckling, I’ll acknowledge my sin. There were a few other telephone calls, and I reacted quite similarly to them all. If anybody can harass a telemarketer, it is my wife’s favorite husband. Then I got a phone call I wasn’t prepared for. This phone call was from Duke Energy.According to the person on the telephone, they sent me notifications that my account was that my power would be cut off today. This form of rocked my afternoon. If I am without electricity, what do I do? And you also know what it is like to have your electricity reinstated with all the fees.As stated by the individual on the other end of the phone, I owed Duke energy $998.59 for the last eight months I have not paid.If you would like to get my attention just tell me you want my money.I then told him I didn’t have that much cash to cover. He had been asking for a credit card number so that I could get up to date on my accounts.”I can help you ,” he said,”by lowering your payment to $698.59.”He could tell that I had been hesitating here, so he responded by saying,”If there is anything wrong, we’ll have the ability to refund your payment, so there is no danger.”I started to realize I had been in the center of a scam, and I did not know it. The moment I believed I knew I was in trouble but not the sort of trouble that he was telling me.He gave me a number I could call, and that I understood it wasn’t the right number. I thought about this, and possibly this scam was a charge for lying around the plane tickets. I could have really been had.Thinking about what I really could have been involved in brought a little spirit of repentance into my heart. I thought about a verse in the Bible. When I do unwanted things, I will reap unwanted things. And I was about to reap something really negative. But the thing that makes the difference is recognizing it and then repenting.
